Distance 80 km south from Cariati: A few miles from Isola Capo Rizzuto is the village of Le Castella, an important tourist center, famous for its clear sea waters and the picturesque Aragonese Castle, together with the coast by a narrow strip of land. Built in the second half of the thirteenth century, the fortress played an important role in the course of time. The Natural Marine Reserve of Capo Rizzuto was established in 1991 to promote and protect the stretch of sea between Cape Donato and Barco Vercillo. To encourage the repopulation of the sea waters through natural rhythms, the marine reserve is one of the most 'beautiful parts of the Ionian coast. It varies in structure the seabed: long stretches of sand that alternate with rocks often covered with sea grass and coral, whilst striking submerged dry rocks create suggestive shallows. In the marine protected area; there’s a guided tour service on board of transparent bottom ships .

Distance from Cariati 30 and 45 Km north: Rossano, Corigiano,both can be visited together in a day if just to see the most important things. Corigliano’s castle is sure to be visited this attributed to Roberto Guiscardi in 1073, with an adjacent church dedicated to San Pietro. The city gradually spreads around the castle with its churches "San francesco of paola ,Sant’antonio of padua" and "Santa Maria". A Rossano instead a visit is to be made to see the Codex purpureus Rossanensis, it’s a prescious Greek gospel made in V-VI cent. A.D, perhaps in Syria or in Palestine. Ruled with gold and silver on a purple parchment prized, hence the adjective that distinguishes it preserves 188 of the 400 original pages, the size of about cm. 30 by 20. The pages contain the Greek text of Gospels of the saints Matthew and Marco another place to visit is :Rossano’s Museum of licorice it’s the only one in Italy that exhibits inside the antique as well as modern tools used in the processing, marketing, and extraction of the root from which we obtain licorice, as well as clothes, objects, manuscripts related to the Amarelli family who have been working for about 4 centuries in the production of the famous licorice namesake known now in all the world!!
Distant 70 km north east of Cariati: Near Cerchiara at over 1100 meters above sea level rises the sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Armi. All in One with the steep rocky ridge that supports it, you embrace the view of the entire plain of Sibari. Built from 1440, it was born on the ruins of a more 'ancient Basilian sanctuary of the twelfth century and its church was set in a cave .where an icon of the Virgin is kept after which it is named engraved on dark stone, a wooden organ, various paintings of the eighteenth century, and a magnificent altar decorated with polychrome marbles, perhaps done by a Florence artist in 1700. Once on site it is recommended to visit the caves. one of the most interesting caving areas of the national Pollino park. At short distance from the village is the abyss of Bifurto, the eighteenth most deepest cave of Italy with its 683 m.
Distance 80 km from Cariati: One of the areas 'most charming and spectacular of the town of Civita ' is no doubt the Canyon where the river Raganello flows. About seven kilometers long, the Canyon winds through steep cliffs wide at least 5-6 meters and high at some points almost eight hundred. Meta among the most desirable for tourists and excursionists, the Canyon alternating in flat stretches, wide and sunny as the Conca oleanders, to steep chutes, long dimly lit corridors, waterfalls and fresh crystal clear water lakes . To mark the end of the Raganello Canyon is the perfect cone top of the Ponte del Diavolo, recently collapsed because of bad weather, located just fifteen minutes from down town Civita.
Distant 60 km south from Cariati: Crotone was established province in 1992;it’s an important agricultural, commercial and industrial center of Calabria; Interesting to see is Crotone’s Cathedral, dedicated to the assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Dionysius Areopagite, it goes back originaly to the XI century ; in the halls are vaulted "lamia" of the Toledo’s bastion , a bastion built in the sixteenth century, that houses the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crotone. It’s a permanent exhibition of 107 works of city property , among which are counted sculptures in pottery and bronze, paintings in oil on canvas or wood, watercoloured lithographs and paintings by contemporary artist . The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 4.pm to 8.pm. In the highiest part of crotone is the castle of Charles V, which current structure dates mostly to the reconstruction ordered in 1541 by the Spanish Vice king Pedro of Toledo. The original structure, raised in the ninth century over the ruins of the acropolis, was greatly transformed during the time. About a kilometer from Crotone stands the sanctuary of Hera Lacinia, the most important place of worship of the ancient Greek polis. The temple, which reached its zenith in the fifth century BC The sacred area of Capo colonna long served as an important spiritual and religious center of Magna Grecia , as evidenced by the numerous votive offerings found in the building "B" during the excavations conducted in the years 1987-90. They are objects of different origin: a geometric horse, a bronze model of a nuragica boat (VIII-VII century BC), a sitting sphinx , a mermaid and a bronze winged gorgon, terracotta statuettes’, decorated pottery, silver jewelry such as a ring with a beetle, and various bronze tools; of an exceptional value is a gold crown decorated with myrtle leaves and vines, dated between the middle of the sixth and the beginning of the fourth century BC, which probably encircled the head of a wooden image of a goddess. The important findings are called " the Treasure of Hera."

Distante 60 km north from Cariati: in the excursion at Sibari there are three fundamental stages: the archaeological museum, the ruins and lakes. The National Archaeological Museum of Sibari, founded in 1996, contains items from the large colony of Magna Grecian site and all the surrounding territories, the entry cost is about 2 Euro. The excavations can be seen free of charge accompanied by local guides, you may notice some sections of large and straight streets. Thurio and its remains of private dwellings relevant to that of Sibari . Near the beach, has been identified a possible trace of a slipway, which was used to haul ashore and repair boats. The area between the first century B.C and third century A.D, because of moving from the coastline and the gradual inland filling became a necropolis. Also visible are the remaining walls of the relative Latin colony of Copia .With the name "lakes of Sibari" it identifies a connected dock by a channel to the sea. Characterized by many bridges ; it offers shelter to several boats and one of the most important centers for storage. On its banks are bars, restaurants, hotels and various tourist attractions.
